People.Online came to Digital Brew because they were a startup company in need of a way to explain their business to a wide variety of people in a way that’s easy to understand. And what better way to do so than with an explainer?! My role on this project was animator and the animation timeline was 6 days.
Animating for a new client means the pressure is on, because first impressions are important. But, it’s also exciting because they didn’t know exactly what they wanted, so I had creative freedom in my animation choices. Although character animation didn’t play a big part in this video, I still got to make some smiley faces express themselves and also give the people’s hair some bounce. I’m going to consider that a small win. Coming up with thoughtful transitions that keep the story flowing smoothly is a fun challenge often with explainer videos because they contain lots of different scenes with a variety of assets and colors that are changing throughout. My favorite transition in this one is the phone spin. I achieved that with a little bit of 3D action within After Effects.
